Our Story

Inspired by fresh quality English Meats

Thatcham Butchers was founded in 1985 by Graham Wilks, originating in a small retail shop in Thatcham, Berkshire. The quality of the fresh English meat ultimately led to an interest from the catering trade and the business grew very quickly. Sustained growth required much bigger premises and a move to the purpose built factory in Arnhem Road, Newbury was facilitated in 2004 and therefore the move to service the Catering industry was completed.

A New Label Is Born

Recently, by popular demand, Thatcham Butchers have branched into securing more local products. We have tapped into bespoke suppliers and have subsequently launched our own “Torre Meadow” Beef, which many customers have said is the “best beef they have ever tasted.”

Our industry known beef is also supported by a full range of locally sourced meat, poultry and products, including “Torre Meadow” Cotswold Lamb, Orchard Farm Pork From Great Windsor Park, Highbury Cotswold Chicken, English Veal and not forgetting our In-House bespoke Sausage and Burger operation.

Thatcham Butchers work with some of the Country’s top chefs and establishments on a daily basis. This is due to our reputation and consistency of cutting, packing, presentation and delivery of our product which is always set to highest standards from all departments. Consequently trade continued to increase and by word of mouth Thatcham Butchers have become leading catering butchers within the industry. This reputation has been further enhanced with the introduction of a Himalayan Salt Dry Ageing Chamber which we had installed in the middle of 2016.
