Our Story

Inspired by Fresh, Quality Meats

Thatcham Butchers was founded in 1985 by Graham Wilks, starting from a small retail shop in Thatcham, Berkshire. The premium quality of the meat quickly attracted interest from the catering trade, leading to rapid business growth. This sustained expansion created the need for larger premises, and in 2004 the company relocated to a purpose-built factory on Arnhem Road in Newbury, completing its transition into servicing the catering industry.

In 2025, Thatcham Butchers expanded again, moving to new facilities at Kennetside, Bone Lane, Newbury.

A New Label Is Born

Recently, due to popular demand, Thatcham Butchers has expanded its product range. We have partnered with bespoke, specialist suppliers and have proudly launched our own Torre Meadow Beef — a product many customers describe as “the best beef they have ever tasted.”

Our industry-known beef is complemented by a full range of carefully sourced meat, poultry, and related products, including our in-house bespoke sausage and burger production.

Thatcham Butchers works with some of the country’s top chefs and establishments on a daily basis. This is a direct result of our reputation for consistency in cutting, packing, presentation, and delivery—standards upheld across all departments. As a result, demand has continued to grow, and through word of mouth Thatcham Butchers has become one of the leading catering butchers within the industry.

This reputation was further strengthened in 2016 with the installation of a Himalayan Salt Dry-Ageing Chamber, enhancing the quality and depth of flavour in our dry-aged products.
